Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the impact of organizational culture on employee job satisfaction, focusing on four culture types—clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchical within First Bank and the Bauchi State Ministry of Finance (with historical context on the Ministry of Land and Survey) in Nigeria, covering the period from 2019 to 2024. Utilizing a descriptive survey design with a census sampling technique, data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 280 employees and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression in SPSS. Findings revealed that clan culture has the strongest positive effect on job satisfaction by fostering collaboration and belonging, followed by market and adhocracy cultures, which enhance satisfaction through rewards, innovation, and autonomy. Hierarchical culture shows a weaker, mixed impact due to stability benefits offset by rigidity. The regression model explained of variance in job satisfaction, with all hypotheses rejected, confirming significant influences. Recommendations included promoting supportive and flexible cultures to boost satisfaction and performance, while limitations such as self-reported bias and cross-sectional design suggest avenues for longitudinal and cross-industry research.
