ASSESSMENT OF SOIL QUALITY AND NUTRIENT CONTENT IN A SEMI ARID REGION (A CASE STUDY OF DEGUBI VILLAGE AGRICULTURAL SITE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines the soil quality and nutrient content in a semi-arid region, using Degubi Village agricultural site as a case study. The main objective of the research is to evaluate the fertility status of the soil and determine its suitability for agricultural production. Soil samples were collected from selected locations within the study area and analyzed using standard laboratory procedures.
The analysis focused on important soil parameters such as soil pH, organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are essential nutrients required for plant growth and crop productivity. The results showed variations in nutrient levels across the sampled sites, indicating differences in soil fertility within the agricultural land. Some nutrients were found to be adequate, while others were present in relatively low concentrations.
The findings reveal that the soil in the study area is moderately fertile but may require proper soil management practices to improve productivity. The study therefore recommends the application of organic manure, balanced fertilizers, and improved farming practices to enhance soil fertility and sustain agricultural production in the semi-arid region. These measures will help farmers improve crop yield and maintain long-term soil quality in the area.
