DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR ULCER PATIENTS
Abstract
Diagnosis is a fundamental component in clinical practice because of it is the root of patient care. More importantly, personalized and prompt diagnosis for any disease cannot be overemphasized in effective healthcare delivery. It is critically necessary for ulcer to be appropriate and promptly diagnosed because being a wound that develops on the lining of the digestive track of the body, general and late diagnosis can lead to more severe and complicated conditions such as pain, discomfort, heartburn, bleeding, perforation, or infection. But, personalized and prompt diagnosis can aid in the initiation of appropriate treatment, which can help prevent complications, enable healthcare providers to monitor the ulcer's progression, adjust treatment as needed to promote healing and prevent recurrence of ulcer. In Nigeria and Africa at large, healthcare access is limited and risk factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and poor diet are prevalent, ulcer-related mortality rates has remained relatively higher. Further, personalized and prompt treatment will reduce ulcer trends. And, in this project a diagnostic application for ulcer was developed to this end – personalized and prompt diagnosis of ulcer.
