EVALUATION OF THE ECONOMIC IMPLICATION OF ELECTRONIC BANKING IN NIGERIAN BANKS (A CASE STUDY OF ACCESS BANK)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the impact between emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness on organizational performance, using Federal Polytechnic Bauchi as a case study. Emotional intelligence (EI), defined as the ability to recognize, regulate, and manage emotions, is considered vital for effective leadership and organizational success. The objectives of the study were to examine how emotional intelligence affects organizational performance, to assess its contribution to organizational outcomes, and to evaluate the influence of leadership effectiveness on organizational performance. A survey research design was employed, with data collected through questionnaires administered to academic and non-academic staff across selected departments. Out of 106 questionnaires distributed, 97 were retrieved, representing a 91.5% response rate. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing. Findings revealed that emotional intelligence significantly contributes to teamwork, adaptability, communication, and conflict resolution but is less directly linked to productivity and decision-making. Leadership effectiveness was found to influence vision building, communication, morale, and creativity, though not directly on efficiency or retention. The study concludes that emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness are critical for organizational performance but require complementary institutional policies and systemic support. Recommendations include integrating emotional intelligence training into staff development, prioritizing EI in recruitment and promotion, and adopting robust organizational policies to enhance efficiency and retention.
