Abstract

Mormordica Charantia, commonly known as bitter gourd, is revered in traditional medicine for its purported health benefits. This study aims to investigate the antioxidant potential of the ethanolic extract derived from the leaves and stems of Mormordica Charantia. The in vitro assessment involved various antioxidant assays, including DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging activity, total antioxidant capacity, and reducing power. Results demonstrated significant antioxidant activity in both leaf and stem extracts, with notable differences in their efficacy. The leaf extract exhibited stronger radical scavenging activity compared to the stem extract, while the stem extract showed higher reducing power. These findings suggest promising antioxidant potential in both plant parts, signifying their possible utility in combating oxidative stress-related disorders.
