Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examines An Assessment of Fabrizio Romano’s Sport Update on Social Media: A Study of Selected Viewing Centers in Gwallameji, Bauchi State. The research sought to evaluate how Fabrizio Romano’s social media updates influence sports information consumption, fan discussions, and perceptions of traditional media among football enthusiasts. Specifically, the study investigated the motivations for following Fabrizio Romano, the gratifications derived from his updates, his influence on fan discussions and expectations, and how social media compares with traditional sports media. The study adopted a quantitative research design using a structured questionnaire distributed to 320 respondents drawn from selected viewing centers in Gwallameji. The instrument contained demographic questions and Likert-scale items categorized under four main sections. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages, means, and standard deviations to provide a clear understanding of the respondents’ perceptions. Findings revealed that most respondents were young adults who actively engage with Fabrizio Romano’s updates on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The results indicated that followers are motivated by his speed, credibility, and consistency in reporting transfer news. Respondents also reported significant gratifications, including entertainment, emotional connection to their clubs, and a sense of belonging within the football community. The study concludes that Fabrizio Romano’s digital journalism has reshaped how sports fans in Gwallameji access and discuss sports information. It recommends that traditional media integrate real-time reporting models and audience interaction strategies to remain competitive in the modern digital landscape.
