TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT AS AN AGENT OF INCREASING PRODUCTIVITY IN AN ORGANIZATION (A CASE STUDY OF POWER HOLDING COMPANY TALATA MAFARA)
Abstract
Abstract
Training and development play a vital role in improving the skills, knowledge, and efficiency of employees in any organization. This research examines training and development as an agent of increasing productivity in an organization, using the Power Holding Company in Talata Mafara as a case study. The main objective of the study is to determine how employee training and development programs contribute to improved job performance and overall organizational productivity.
The study adopted a descriptive research design, and data were collected through questionnaires and interviews administered to staff of the organization. The information gathered was analyzed using simple percentages and descriptive analysis. The findings of the study revealed that effective training and development programs enhance employees’ technical skills, improve job efficiency, increase motivation, and lead to higher productivity within the organization. The study also found that lack of regular training, inadequate training facilities, and limited funding can hinder employee performance and organizational growth.
Based on the findings, the study concludes that training and development are essential tools for improving employee competence and achieving organizational goals. It therefore recommends that the management of the organization should organize regular training programs, workshops, and seminars for employees to update their knowledge and skills. Adequate funding and support should also be provided to ensure the success of training and development initiatives in order to enhance productivity and service delivery.
