EFFECT OF GRADED LEVELS OF ENZYME (XYLANASE) SUPPLEMENTATION ON THE GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF BROILER FINISHER CHICKENS
Abstract
An experiment was conducted on at the poultry production unit of Mohamet Lawan College of Agriculture, Maiduguri on Effect of Graded Levels of Enzyme Supplementation on the growth performance of Broiler Finisher Chickens. A total of Twenty (20) chickens were purchased for the feeding trial, which were brooded for the period of four (4) weeks following standard brooding procedure. After brooding the birds were randomly selected, weighted to obtain initial body weight thereafter, allotted to four (4) dietary treatments i.e T1, T2, T3, and T4. Each treatment will have 5 birds in two (2) replications of five (5) birds each in a completely randomized design (CRD). The experiment involves four treatment groups with different levels of enzyme supplementation: T2, (1.0 g/kg of feed) T3, (1.5 g/kg of feed) and T4 (2.0 g/kg of feed) while T1, served as control treatment respectively. Feed and water were provide ad-libitum Parameters to be measured were include, initial weight, feed intake, feed conversion ratio as well as final weight. It was concluded that, the results of Effect of Graded Levels of Enzyme Supplementation on the growth performance of Broiler Finisher Chickens. This is followed by the value recorded by birds fed the 2.0g/kg Enzyme Supplementation diet while birds supplemented with 2.0g/kg of Enzyme diet recorded the highest significant value that is significantly higher (P< 0.05) than values recorded for all other treatment values. Hence, It is recommended that Enzyme Supplementation can be incorporated into the diets of broiler chickens up to 2.0g/kg. Thus there is no any adverse effect on the growth performance of broiler finisher chickens. Further research more than 2.0g/kg incorporation of Enzyme Supplementation is recommended.
