Abstract

The role that Social Entrepreneurship (SE) could play in this regard becomes worthy of consideration in the sense that SE extends the discussion and application of entrepreneurship to addressing social problems. The crux of our argument here is that although Nigeria is connected to the vision of entrepreneurship, the emergence of an entrepreneurial economy in Nigeria that combines the commercial and social dimensions of enterprise will, no doubt, enhance economic and social sustainability in the country. All over the world employment opportunities are very scarce as a result of inflation, terrorism, wars and global financial crisis. The broad objective of the study is to examine the effect of social entrepreneurship on poverty alleviation in Nigeria and one of the specific objective is to identify the extent at which social innovation affect poverty alleviation within Ibadan south east metropolis. The study adopted a quantitative research design with some selected variables. The study finds out that social innovation has led to the creation of community health programs, mobile clinics, and telemedicine services that provide affordable healthcare to underserved populations. The study concludes that social innovation can provide sustainable solutions to poverty and improve the quality of life for disadvantaged populations. The study recommended that there should be an expansion of social innovation projects such as mobile healthcare, low-cost educational platforms, and renewable energy solutions to other underserved areas.
