SERUM GLUCOSE AND INSULIN ASSAY ON STREPTOZOTOCIN INDUCED DIABETIC WISTAR RATS TREATED WITH BIOSYNTHESIZED SILVER NANOPARTICLES
Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the Serum glucose and Insulin assay on
streptozotocin induced diabetic Wistar rats treated with biosynthesized silver
nanoparticles. A total of Thirty (30) Wistar rats were used for the experiment. In the
experiment, a total of 24 Diabetes induced Wistar rats (including 6 normal control
rats were used). These were grouped into normal control and diabetic induced
groups. The diabetic rats were further grouped into five with six rats each, while
Normal control has just one group with six rats. The grouping are as follows: Six
Wistar rats (6) were group into:(A) Normal control and Twenty-four (24) Wistar rats
were group into: (B) diabetic induced group. The rats were further grouped into I:
Normal control (NC) given distilled water (reconstitution solvent). II: Non-treated
diabetic (DC) rats (reconstitution solvent). III: Standard control: diabetic rats treated
with 200mg/kg body weight of Metformin (MET). VI: (AgNPs): Animal treated with
20ml/kg body weight of synthesized AgNPs with guava leaf extract, normal feed,
and water. V: (GV): Treated with 20ml/kg body weight of aqueous quava leaf
extract). The results indicated there was lower insulin level in diabetic control when
compared with normal control; the lower levels of insulin were significant (p
