Abstract

ABSTRACT Work ethics represent the moral principles and behavioral standards that guide employees in the workplace. In modern organizations, productivity is no longer determined solely by technical skills or technology but also by the ethical orientation and commitment of workers toward their responsibilities. This research investigates the impact of work ethics on employee productivity in an organization, with particular reference to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Owerri. The study examines how ethical values such as discipline, punctuality, honesty, accountability, and dedication influence employee performance and overall organizational effectiveness. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed among employees of FAAN Owerri and analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Findings reveal that strong work ethics significantly enhance employee productivity by promoting responsibility, reducing workplace conflicts, and fostering a culture of professionalism. Conversely, weak ethical standards were found to negatively affect productivity through absenteeism, negligence, and poor job commitment. The research concludes that organizations that actively promote ethical work culture tend to experience higher productivity levels and stronger employee engagement. It therefore recommends that management should strengthen ethical training programs, implement fair reward systems, and create a work environment that encourages integrity and accountability.
