DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF E-LEARNING SYSTEM FOR FIDEI POLYTECHNIC
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The increasing demand for flexible and accessible education has prompted institutions to seek innovative alternatives to traditional classroom-based learning. This project focuses on the design and implementation of a web-based E-learning system tailored for Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko. The system addresses key challenges such as limited access to educational materials, inflexible class schedules, delayed feedback mechanisms, and insufficient interaction between students and instructors. Using the incremental model of software development, the system was developed with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (for the frontend), PHP (for server-side scripting), and MySQL (for database management). Key features include secure user authentication, role-based access control, course material upload, assignment submission, grading, and administrative monitoring tools. The platform was successfully tested with sample user accounts representing students, lecturers, and administrators. Results show that the system enhances academic operations by providing 24/7 access to learning materials, facilitating timely feedback, and improving communication across stakeholders. This E-learning system is scalable, user-friendly, and cost-effective, positioning Fidei Polytechnic for improved academic delivery and digital transformation. It also provides a foundation for future developments, including mobile integration and virtual classrooms.
