Abstract

ABSTRACT Recently, home automation system has getting significant attention because of the fast and advanced technology, making daily living more convenient. Almost everything has been digitalized and automated. The development of home automation will become easier and more popular because of the use of the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper described various combinations and integration of hardware and software systems which would enable multiple home appliances to be automated. The hardware parts include ESP8266 Wi-Fi modules, actuators or electronic relays, PIC16F877a microcontrollers, relay drivers, ac-dc converters, resistors, electrolytic and ceramic capacitors, crystal oscillators, regulators, ICs sockets and so on. While the software aspect include the developing c-program language which was written in MPLABX, version 6.15 to program the PIC16F877a microcontrollers and also, interfaced together with ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. The interface between PIC16F877a microcontrollers and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module capabilities allows for remote control and monitoring of multiples home appliances at anywhere through the use of friendly use adafruit.io web page platform that was created for IoT (internet of things) which is the key to a universal communication method. The application is user-friendly, adaptable, and beneficial for consumers and disabled people. It has the potential to be further extended via the use of various devices and my main objectives of this work are to make our home to be highly effective automated, more secure and intelligent.
