ANTIBACTERIAL SCREENING OF SOME CLINICAL ISOLATES TO POTENCY OF DANDELION (TARAXACUM OFFICINALE) LEAVE EXTRACT
Abstract
This research work entitled “Antibacterial screening of some clinical isolates to potency of dandelion (Taraxacum afficinale) leave extract” was done using agar disc diffusion method. Have been increasingly concerned about the development of antibacterial resistant amongst some selected pathogenic bacteria, alternative strategies have been sought that do not use antibiotics to reduce pathogenic bacteria from patients. This is because some pathogenic organism has acquired high resistance sensitivity on much antibiotics produced to kill those organism only ends up in suppressing them or inhibiting their growth thereby making the antibiotics drugs in-effective which after some time, the pathogenic organism comes back and attack the system thereby causing damages to the cell. Therefore, this research work is aimed at such development to help cub the dangers posed by the ever-increasing antibacterial resistance amongst pathogenic bacteria and to ascertain the antibacterial activities of taraxacum officinale extract against some pathogenic bacteria. The sample (i.e. plant sample) used was collected and the methanolic extract was gotten after collecting and grinding. The methanolic extract was used to test against those organisms using materials like nutrient agar, and sensitivity disc. The inoculating was done (i.e. introducing microorganisms into the media). The result of this work shows no activity against these three selected isolates.
