THE EFFECT OF WORKING ENVIRONMENT ON EMPLOYEE.PERFORMANCE (A STUDY OF BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY, MAKURDI)

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to look into the effect of working environment and employee performance at Benue State University Makurdi. The study used employee performance as the dependent variable and seven important Work environment elements as predictor variables, such as the physical environment, compensation, and democratic leadership style. The study’s research objectives were addressed by collecting cross-sectional data from 315 employees using a self-administered questionnaire and random probability sampling. The statistical program for social science (SPSS) version 25 was used to analyze the acquired data using descriptive statistical correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The research’s findings underline the fact that rewards and the physical work environment have a favourable, statistically significant impact on employee performance. On the democratic leadership style, on the other hand, has demonstrated a statistically negligible impact on worker performance According to the study’s findings, management of the Benue State University should ensure that the physical work environment’s lighting. Noise level, temperature, and ventilation remain at an acceptable level.
