Abstract

ABSTRACT This project introduces "A Novel Virtual Tour System Leveraging 360° Imagery and Mapping Technologies for Improved Campus Orientation," using Achievers University as a case study. The system tackles the challenges of campus navigation by combining immersive 360° imagery with intelligent mapping technologies. It offers a user-friendly and highly accessible platform tailored to enhance orientation for students, staff, and visitors alike. Core features include an interactive map interface, accurate location markers, seamless routing, and immersive virtual tours through high-resolution panoramic imagery. The platform is built using modern web technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js, with deployment handled via Netlify for the frontend and Render for the backend. This technological integration ensures speed, stability, and responsiveness across devices. The system redefines the campus experience by offering intuitive navigation support and visual familiarity with key locations. Performance evaluations indicated the system's efficiency and responsiveness, achieving a Lighthouse Performance score of 91, with rapid loading times (FCP: 1.3s, LCP: 1.3s, Speed Index: 1.6s). Usability metrics, including quick map location finding and active 360° image exploration, further affirmed its user-friendly design, affirming the system’s potential as an effective and scalable orientation solution.
