Abstract

This study investigates the impact of social media on nutritional knowledge and dietary choices among civil servants in Bauchi State, Nigeria. With the increasing use of social media platforms as sources of health information, it is important to understand how these platforms influence dietary behaviors and awareness of nutrition-related issues. A descriptive survey research design was adopted, and data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to selected civil servants across different ministries in Bauchi State. The findings revealed that social media plays a significant role in increasing awareness of healthy diets, nutritional practices, and lifestyle choices. However, the study also identified challenges such as misinformation and inconsistent dietary advice found online. The research concludes that while social media can be an effective tool for improving nutritional knowledge, proper regulation and public health education are necessary to ensure accurate information dissemination. The study recommends collaboration between health professionals and digital media platforms to promote reliable nutrition education.
