Abstract

This study assessed the impact of employee training on Organizational performance in selected Nigerian commercial banks. The Specific Objectives are: to Evaluate the influence of employee productivity on Organizational performance, to Examine the relationship between organizational output and Organizational performance and to Analyse the effect of training delivery modes on employee productivity in selected Nigerian commercial banks. The research design employed for this study is the descriptive survey design. According to the internal human resource reports of the selected banks (2024), the total population size is 150 staff members. The sample size for the study was 109 respondents. The primary research instrument used in this study was a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency distribution, and standard deviation will be used to summarize respondents’ demographic characteristics and general response patterns to the questionnaire items. For the inferential statistics, the study will adopt multiple regression and correlation analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 to test the formulated hypotheses. The findings of the study showed that employee productivity significantly influences organisational performance in Nigerian commercial banks (R² = 0 hi.528, β = 0. 685, p < .000). There is a significant and strong positive relationship between organisational output and organisational performance in Nigerian commercial banks (R = 0.742, p < 0.01). Training delivery modes have a significant positive effect on employee productivity in Nigerian commercial banks (R² = 0.374, β = 0. 631, p < .000). The study concluded that the way training is delivered whether on-the-job, off-the-job, or digitally significantly affects how employees absorb, retain, and apply new knowledge and skills. Poorly designed or outdated training approaches can limit productivity gains, while engaging, interactive, and job-relevant training fosters better performance outcomes. It recommended among other things that banks should prioritize regular, targeted training to boost employee productivity, aligning training content with job roles and performance gaps to ensure efficiency and service excellence.
