ASSESSING THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENHANCING STUDENT PRODUCTIVITY AND EDUCATION

ABSTRACT The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in contemporary education has been massive, as it has transformed the mode in which students retrieve, interpret, and interact with teaching resources. This research question examines how AI can help improve student productivity and education especially in institutions of higher learning. The growing use of AI tools like ChatGPT, Grammarly, Notion AI, and Google Assistant, students have become highly dependent on the technologies being used to perform a variety of tasks, which include, writing through AI- enhanced writing, study schedules, and research. The study will be of a mixed-methodology, employing the constructed surveys that will be provided to the students of different departments, as well as the cases studies and analysis of the documents. In this study, the researcher shall focus on determining the most frequently utilized AI tools amongst the students, determine the frequency and objective of their use, determine the effectiveness of these tools in enhancing the academic output, and determination of the challenges students face when using them. Until now, the results indicate that many students actively use AI tools, and most note that it makes them feel more efficient, manage time, and produce higher-quality academic outcomes. The study however raises some concerns with regard to over reliance, the correctness of the data produced by the AI and plagiarism among other ethical issues. Although it is clear that the use of AI has indeed increased flexibility and productivity in learning, the findings of the research advise that institutions formulate clear guidelines and awareness creation programs against the indiscriminate use of AI. The present research is an addition to the existing literature on the role of AI in the educational scene and gives insight to students, instructors, and policymakers who would want to vitrify innovation and teaching.
