Abstract

This project presents the design and development of a Smart Campus Management System (CampusSync) for Joseph Ayo Babalola University, aimed at enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, and automation of academic and administrative operations across the university. The project was driven by the need to address challenges such as fragmented communication between staff and students, manual facility booking processes, delayed access to student records, and poor real-time data synchronization. A modular, user-centered design approach was adopted, incorporating feedback from students, academic staff, and administrative personnel to shape system requirements and interface flow. The solution features secure role-based dashboards for students, staff, and administrators; real-time notification systems; automated attendance tracking; facility booking functionality; and a secure academic records module. The system backend is powered by Django (Python), integrated with AES-256 encryption for data security, and designed to support future extensions such as IoT-based smart attendance and AI-driven analytics. The user interface was developed using responsive web technologies with support for mobile access. The resulting system offers a scalable and secure digital platform that streamlines campus operations, fosters academic engagement, and lays the groundwork for smart university transformation.
