IMPACT OF ACCOUNTING INFORMATION ON BUSINESS SUCCESS IN NIGERIA (A STUDY OF THREE (3) SELECTED COMPANIES IN ABA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of accounting information on business success in Nigeria using three selected companies in Aba, Abia State, representing the manufacturing, trading, and service sectors. The research was motivated by the observation that many businesses fail not because of lack of customers but due to poor financial management and inadequate accounting records.
Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and company financial reports from staff and management of the selected firms. A total of 60 respondents participated in the study. Descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing were used to analyze the data.
Findings revealed that accurate and timely accounting information significantly improves managerial decision-making, cost control, profitability, and overall business performance. The study concludes that effective accounting systems are critical tools for business growth and sustainability. It therefore recommends the adoption of computerized accounting systems, regular financial reporting, and proper training of accounting personnel.
