MIGRATION IN CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE’S HALF OF A YELLOW SUN
Abstract
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
All praise and glory go to God Almighty, the unfailing source of my strength and the anchor of my academic journey. Through every moment, whether bright with clarity or dimmed by uncertainty, His grace upheld me. I am thankful for His constant presence, for lifting me during my lowest points, and for granting me the resilience to complete this work. Chineke onye nwe anyi, ekele m diri gi.
I am deeply indebted to my supervisor, Mrs. Toochi Olaolu, whose support, wisdom, and unwavering guidance were instrumental throughout this journey. Her insightful remarks and steady encouragement were a beacon that helped me stay on course. I also wish to express heartfelt appreciation to my Head of Department, Dr. Edward Chijioke, for his fatherly concern, tireless check-ins, and the sense of reassurance he provided. His dedication went beyond expectations, and I remain truly grateful.
To the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Rev. Fr. Prof. Omenka, I am grateful for fostering a structured and enriching learning environment where my academic aspirations could flourish. The contributions of my lecturers deserve special recognition. Every class, correction, and challenge they presented helped mould my academic character. I deeply appreciate Prof. Regina Udaba, whose nurturing presence offered comfort and encouragement during trying times. Mr. Kingsley Eze was a constant source of strength with his kind words and timely advice. I am equally thankful to Assoc. Prof. Ifeanyi Ugwu and Assoc. Prof. Adele Maxwell for their rigorous academic input and thought-provoking mentorship.
To Mrs. Chizurum, Miss Chiamaka Chinweike, Mr. JT Chukwuweike, Dr. Justus Ugwu, Dr. Reuben Onyishi, and Mrs. Amaka Chime, I offer sincere thanks for their scholarly influence and guidance. I also acknowledge Prof. Obasiekene, Dr. Ojel Anidi, Miss Chioma Dike, Mr. Eze Michael, and Mr. Celestine Idoko, whose individual impacts enriched my academic experience in more ways than one. Collectively, these educators not only sharpened my intellect but also helped build my confidence.
I am especially thankful to my friends and coursemates, whose companionship turned this demanding journey into something memorable. Olivia, Olaedo, Chioma, and Donna were more than friends. They were my support system, my motivation, and my joy during difficult times. Their presence added light to even the darkest days, and their friendship will remain one of my greatest treasures.
I also extend appreciation to the often-unseen pillars who supported me behind the scenes. Aunty Uju and Aunty Julie, your quiet dedication, kind assistance, and motherly care did not go unnoticed.
To my beloved parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emma Okpukpara , and to my dear sibling, your prayers, sacrifices, and support meant the world to me. Thank you for always believing in me.
To everyone who, in one way or another, made this journey smoother and this work possible, I offer my heartfelt thanks. May God bless and reward you abundantly.
