EVALUATION OF PROTHROMBIN TIME AND PLATELET COUNT IN ACTIVELY MENSTRUATING FEMALES AT MADONNA UNIVERSITY
Abstract
The evaluation of prothrombin time and platelet count on actively menstruating females in madonna university was studied on 35 females menstruating females and equal number of non menstruating females for control. samples were collected during their active menstruating phase prothrombin time test and platelet count was carried out.The results indicated that the average platelet count for the menstruating group was 218.49 ± 53.612 × 10^9/L, slightly lower than the control group's 252.00 ± 42.808 × 10^9/L. However, this difference was not statistically significant (F = 1.778, p = 0.190). Similarly, the average PT for menstruating females was 18.131 ± 26.77 seconds, compared to 11.320 ± 2.85 seconds in the control group, with the difference also not reaching statistical significance (F = 0.316, p = 0.577). Correlation analyses revealed no significant relationships between age and platelet count (r = 0.061, p = 0.728) or age and PT (r = -0.107, p = 0.542) among menstruating females. Additionally, no significant correlations were found between the duration of the menstrual period and PT (r = 0.039, p = 0.825) or between the duration of the menstrual period and platelet count (r = -0.173, p = 0.321).
