APPLICATION OF BANDURA SOCIAL LEARNING APPROACH IN UPPER BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOLS OF KANO MUNICIPAL LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY, KANO STATE, NIGERIA

The study assessed the application of Bandura Social Learning Approach in Upper Basic Education Schools of Kano Municipal Local Education Authority, Kano State. The objectives of the study are to find out the extent teachers apply Bandura Social Learning Approach to develop self-Respect and Discipline in Upper Basic Education Students of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State, the extent teachers apply Bandura Social Learning Approach to foster competence in Upper Basic Education Students of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State, and the extent teachers apply Bandura Social Learning Approach to provide effective teaching and learning process in Upper Basic Education schools of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State. Based on these objectives four research questions were formulated to guide the study. The research design adopted for this study is the descriptive survey method. The population of this research comprised 5086 Upper Basic Education Teachers in the public Primary schools of Municipal Local Government Education Authority, Kano State with a sample size of 357 based on research Advisor (2006). The instrument used for this study was researcher design questionnaire namely: “Questionnaire for the Assessment of Application of Bandura Social Learning Approach in Upper Basic Education Schools. Descriptive statistics in form of mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the research questions. The study found out that, teachers are not adequately applying Bandura Social Learning Approach to develop self-Respect and Discipline in Upper Basic Education Students of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State, teachers are not adequately applying Bandura Social Learning Approach to foster competence in Upper Basic Education Students of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State, and teachers are not adequately applying Bandura Social Learning Approach to provide effective teaching and learning process in Upper Basic Education schools of Kano Municipal Local Government, Kano State. Lastly, the study recommended among others Teachers need adequate training on how to apply Bandura Social Learning Approach to develop self-Respect and Discipline in Upper Basic Education Students and Teachers should be using Bandura teaching strategies to foster competence in Upper Basic Education Students.
