INTERROGATING STAGE MANAGEMENT PROCEDURES: A STUDY OF PINNACLE THEATRE’S PRODUCTION OF DEATH AND THE KING’S GREY HAIR
Abstract
This study investigates stage management procedures employed in the production of Death and The King’s Grey Hair by Pinnacle Theater. The research problem is to explore the various techniques used in stage management to enhance the overall production. The research methodology is qualitative, and it employed interviews and observation to collect data from the production team. The findings of the research indicate that successful stage management in theatrical productions requires the collaboration of the production team, including the director, stage manager, actors, and technical staff. An effective stage manager must have excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure smooth running of the production. In the case of Pinnacle Theater's production of Death and The King’s Grey Hair, the stage manager effectively coordinated the technical crew, actors, and backstage management to deliver a seamless performance. The study recommends that theater companies should prioritize stage management by investing in well-trained stage managers and providing them with the necessary support to manage the production effectively. Additionally, theater companies should consider implementing a standard stage management procedure that can be used across all productions to ensure consistency and efficiency. In conclusion, this study highlights the significant role of stage management in theatrical productions and emphasizes the need for proper investment in stage management techniques to enhance the production's overall quality.
