Abstract
ABSTRACT
Organizations operate in increasingly complex business environments where accountability, transparency, and efficiency are critical for survival and growth. One of the most reliable mechanisms organizations use to safeguard resources and achieve strategic goals is the internal control system. Internal controls help ensure that operational activities align with organizational objectives, financial information remains reliable, and risks are minimized.
This study examines the use of internal control systems as a management tool for the realization of business objectives, using Starline Nigeria Limited, Aba as a case study. The research investigates the effectiveness of internal control structures within the organization and evaluates how these controls contribute to managerial decision-making, operational efficiency, and risk management.
The study adopted a descriptive research design. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to employees and management staff of Starline Nigeria Limited. Secondary data were also obtained from academic journals, textbooks, and organizational records. The data collected were analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency tables and percentages.
Findings from the study reveal that effective internal control systems significantly enhance organizational performance by preventing fraud, improving accountability, and ensuring efficient use of resources. The study concludes that internal control systems play a vital role in achieving business objectives and sustaining organizational growth.
The study recommends that organizations strengthen their internal control frameworks, regularly review operational procedures, and invest in employee training to maintain effective control mechanisms.
