Abstract

Effective waste disposal and landfill management are critical for ensuring environmental sustainability and public health. This study explores the various methods of waste disposal, emphasizing the reliance on landfills and the associated potential hazards. Improper landfill management can lead to environmental degradation, including soil contamination, groundwater pollution, and the release of greenhouse gases such as methane. Additionally, landfills pose risks to human health through exposure to hazardous substances and air pollutants. This research highlights the importance of adopting sustainable waste management practices, including waste reduction, recycling, and alternative disposal methods, to mitigate these hazards. It also underscores the need for stricter regulations and innovative technologies to enhance landfill safety and minimize their environmental footprint. The findings aim to contribute to better waste management strategies that balance economic, environmental, and public health considerations.
