EFFECT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF NIGERIA (SMEDAN) PROGRAMS ON THE GROWTH OF SMES IN NIGERIA (A CASE STUDY OF SELECTED BUSINESSES IN GUSAU METROPOLIS)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigates the impact of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) programs on the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Gusau Metropolis, Zamfara State. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, data were collected from 211 small-scale business owners through a structured questionnaire, analyzed using SPSS 16. The findings reveal that low-interest financing and easy credit facilities positively influence SME performance, whereas government grants exhibit an insignificant effect. The study underscores the critical role of accessible financial resources in enhancing SME growth and recommends that policymakers prioritize the expansion of low-interest financing and credit facilities to foster a more conducive environment for SME development in the region.
