THE EFFECT OF NON-MUSLIM CULTURE ON SOME MUSLIMS FAMILIES (A CASE STUDY OF MAIDUGURI POLICE BARRACKS)
Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the sociocultural dynamics and the resulting impact of non-Muslim cultural practices on Muslim families residing within the Maiduguri Police Barracks, Borno State. As a cosmopolitan hub, the barracks environment facilitates intense daily interaction between individuals of diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds, often leading to cultural diffusion.
The primary objective of this research is to identify specific non-Muslim cultural elements—ranging from social habits and dress codes to dietary influences and celebrations—that have been adopted by Muslim households in this vicinity. Using a descriptive survey research design, data was collected through structured questionnaires and oral interviews with a representative sample of residents.
