DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COLLABORATIVE ACADEMIC PLATFORM FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENTS WITH INTER-UNIVERSITY LEADER BOARD COMPETITIONS
Abstract
Nigerian students across tertiary institutions are reaping the benefits of technology in education as it aids knowledge sharing, assessment, and peer-to-peer collaboration. However, most of the platforms being utilized by students focus on preparing them for examinations or integrate quizzes into the learning process. As beneficial as these features are, they rarely foster collaboration among university students and encourage healthy academic competitions. This study analyses the limitations and gaps found in existing platforms such as Google Classroom, Moodle, Kahoot, ulesson, and MySchool.ng. Therefore, this project focuses on the design and implementation of a Collaborative Academic Platform for Computer Science Students with Inter-University Leader Board Competitions. The application developed using Next.js and MongoDB will combine academic material sharing, quizzes, gamification features such as leaderboards, and inter-university competitions. This system aims to increase academic performance and cooperation across Nigerian universities by adopting gamification mechanics and information sharing.
