Abstract

Across the globe, particularly in Africa, traditional medicine remains a vital component of healthcare, leveraging the continent's rich plant diversity for potential therapeutic applications (Omonhinmin, 2022). The escalating global interest in natural compounds for pharmaceutical innovation highlights the critical need to scientifically validate traditional medicinal claims. This investigation centers on Dacryodes edulis, commonly recognized as African pear, a highly valued native fruit tree prevalent throughout West and Central Africa. Beyond its nutritional value as a source of fats, vitamins, and proteins, various segments of Dacryodes edulis have historically been utilized for their medicinal properties, including the management of wounds, skin conditions, dysentery, and fevers (Mvondo et al., 2024; Oyekunle et al., 2020).
