UNIVERSITY SERVICES SYSTEM CASE STUDY MODIBBO ADAMA UNIVERSITY, YOLA
Abstract
This study aimed to design and implement a comprehensive University Service System (USS) to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of university services at Modibbo Adama University, Yola. The current system faced challenges such as inefficient booking and scheduling processes, unclear pricing structures, limited technology adoption, and ineffective revenue management. The proposed USS integrated booking, scheduling, pricing, revenue management, and quality assurance for various university service units including CEMIT, CBT, ICT, Central Laboratory, and Publishing Centers. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys, interviews, and data analysis from 200 respondents. A rule-based reasoning system was developed using PHP and MySQL to automate decision-making processes. The findings revealed significant improvements in student satisfaction (increasing from 55% to 90%), reduced service delivery times (from 4-5 days to 1-2 hours), and enhanced revenue generation through transparent pricing structures. The proposed USS provides a framework for universities to enhance their services and improve the overall student experience. The study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on university services and provides insights for future research and practice in educational technology and service management.
