COMMUNICATION AND ORGANISATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN FIRST BANK PLC ABAK, AKWA IBOM STATE.

The research was designed to examined Communication and organizational performance in selected commercial bank in Abak, Akwa Ibom State. Communication is considered to be most important and most effective ingredient of the management process. This is because communication provide a means by which managers and subordinate are interconnected and link up in the organization. The main objective of the study was to determine the extents to which vertical communication has affected the performance of the organization through communication in first bank Abak, Akwa Ibom State; To measure the impact of horizontal communication as an element of communication on organizational performance in first bank Plc Abak, Akwa Ibom State; To examine how grapevine communication affect organizational performance in first bank Plc Abak, Akwa Ibom State. Three hypothesis was formulated and descriptive research design was used and survey method was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 36 and sample size of 30 respondents was drown. The method of data collection was a structured Questionnaire administered to the respondents using random sampling Techniques. Out of 33 Questionnaire administered 30 was returned and used for analysis. Data collection were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation using simple frequencies and percentages. Results shows that there is a significant between communication and organizational performance. The finding revealed that there is a significant relationship between communication and organizational performance. Therefore it concluded that in organization where there is no communication to convey message from the management to the subordinate such organization stand at a risk of losing its image. It recommended that policies, rules, and regulations in the organization should determine the best and most effective method of communication that is suitable in their organization. First bank Plc Abak should know that the critical important of communication on organizational performance is related to the degree of achieving the organizational goal and in order to achieve high organizational productivity in the organization, it has to be through communication been effective. Further research should be carried out in areas such as; the impact of training and development to improve organizational performance; the effects of communication on organizational performance should be studied in manufacturing sectors; the impact of communication on employer/ employees relationship.
