Abstract

ABSTRACT The increasing rate of cyber-attacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches has created a pressing need for secure methods of protecting user credentials in modern computing environments. This project presents the design and implementation of a Password Encryption System Using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), a symmetric key cryptographic algorithm known for its high level of security, speed, and efficiency. The system applies AES encryption to convert plain-text passwords into secure cipher texts before storage, ensuring that sensitive user information remains protected even if the database is compromised. Developed using a combination of Python and PHP, the system provides a user-friendly interface for password creation, encryption, decryption, and secure management.Key features include dynamic key generation, secure key handling, and real-time encryption processes. The performance ofthe system is evaluated using criteria such as encryption/decryption speed, key strength, and resistance to common attacks including brute force and dictionary attacks. Results demonstrate that AES provides a robust and reliable encryption mechanism suitable for securing authentication data in both web and desktop applications. This research highlights the importance of modern cryptographic techniques in strengthening data security and demonstrates how AES can be effectively deployed to enhance confidentiality, integrity, and overall system resilience.
