Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of an Asset Management Information System (AMIS) for Gusau Local Government Area, Nigeria, where the web-based system improves asset tracking, maintenance, and administrative oversight using a full-stack architecture with React.js, FastAPI, and MySQL, and the system features role-based access control, audit trails, real-time notifications, and supports asset registration, lifecycle management, maintenance scheduling, transfer workflows, disposals, auctions, and reporting, while advanced features include QR code asset tagging, PDF reports, dashboards, and mobile responsiveness, and developed through Agile methodology with iterative sprints and stakeholder feedback, the system ensures alignment with actual government workflows, with performance tests showing response times under 3 seconds with 100+ concurrent users, and security enforced with JWT authentication, bcrypt hashing, SQL injection protection, and audit logging, thus AMIS demonstrates how Agile-driven development can deliver a secure, scalable, and user-centered solution for local government, serving as a model for digital transformation adaptable across Nigeria.
