Abstract

Moringa oleifera, commonly known as the drumstick tree, is widely recognized for its exceptional nutritional and medicinal properties. This study focuses on analyzing the proximate composition and elemental profile of Moringa oleifera leaves to assess their nutritional value and potential health benefits. Key parameters such as vitamins (A, B2, and C) and minerals (Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Na, Pb, and Zn) were analyzed, revealing concentrations of 2.64 mg/kg, 20.50 mg/kg, and 17.80 mg/kg for vitamins and 22.60 mg/kg, 0.47 mg/kg, 6.60 mg/kg, 7.00 mg/kg, 19.33 mg/kg, 0.02 mg/kg, and 1.10 mg/kg for minerals, respectively. Proximate composition analysis further highlighted the nutritional profile of Moringa oleifera leaves, with results indicating ash content (9.80%), fiber (5.11%), hexane extract (5.55%), moisture (12.67%), nitrogen-free extract (36.77%), and proteins (50.10%). These findings confirm the plant's high nutritional potential and its role in addressing dietary deficiencies and promoting balanced nutrition. The study emphasizes Moringa oleifera's value as a dietary supplement, particularly for populations facing malnutrition. However, the potential risks associated with excessive nutrient concentrations highlight the need for regulated and informed usage.
