PRODUCTION OF A LIGHT EMITTING DIODES (LED) SIGNAGE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL ARTS
Abstract
This project investigates the design and production of an LED signage inspired by
contemporary art movements, utilizing a practice-LED methodology. The research integrates
primary and secondary data sources, including academic literature, case studies, and online
resources, to inform and enhance the creative process. High-quality materials such as LED
modules, power supply cables, weatherproof sealants, mounting hardware, and fabricated
plastic, and optional enclosures were meticulously selected to ensure the signage's functionality
and aesthetic appeal. The LED signage, measuring 4 by 3 feet, was designed to incorporate
abstract motifs and modern artistic elements, creating a visually1 striking and culturally
significant display. The production process involved stages of design, material selection,
fabrication, assembly, testing, and quality assurance to achieve optimal performance and
durability. The research findings demonstrate that the LED signage effectively communicates
its intended message, captivates viewers with its vibrant visuals, and resonates with cultural
references. The project highlights the intersection of art, technology, and culture, showcasing
the potential of LED technology to enhance artistic expression and community engagement.
Recommendations for maintenance, community involvement, and sustainability are provided
to ensure the continued impact and relevance of the LED signage. This study underscores the
importance of integrating artistic innovation with technological advancements to create
meaningful and immersive experiences.
