Abstract

In the digital era, e-commerce platforms have become a vital channel for commercial transactions, offering convenience, broader market reach, and cost efficiency. However, concerns surrounding data security, privacy breaches, and consumer trust have posed significant challenges to the growth and reliability of online shopping. This project focuses on the design and implementation of a net-centric e-commerce website that prioritizes data protection and fosters consumer trust through secure, user-friendly, and efficient system architecture. The study explores modern web development technologies and security mechanisms, incorporating secure authentication systems, encrypted data storage, and privacy-compliant practices to ensure user data integrity and confidentiality. The system was built using core web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) along with Firebase for authentication and file management. Key features include secure user registration and login, product listing, shopping cart functionalities, order tracking, and a user interface that enhances usability. In addition to functionality, the project evaluates the system’s performance using key metrics such as responsiveness, reliability, and user satisfaction. The final implementation demonstrates how integrating best practices in web security and interface design can lead to a robust and trustworthy e-commerce environment. This work contributes to the ongoing discourse on building scalable and secure online platforms that meet the evolving needs of users in a digitally connected world
