DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF A LOW-COST FURNACE BRICK MATERIAL FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the development and evaluation of a low-cost furnace brick material suitable for high-temperature applications, with an optional mortar component. The objectives include material formulation, characterization, performance testing, and costbenefit analysis. A comprehensive experimental program was conducted to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of the developed brick material, including thermal conductivity, thermal expansion, compressive strength and abrasion test. The performance of the brick material was assessed under various high-temperature conditions, including exposure to flames, and rapid temperature fluctuations. Additionally, the feasibility of using mortar component to improve the brick's installation and durability was explored. The results of this study provide valuable insights into the potential of the developed furnace brick material as a cost-effective and high-performance alternative for various industrial applications requiring high-temperature resistance.
