THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ECONOMIC SANCTION AS A TOOL FOR INTERNATIONAL CONFLICT MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY OF IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL ( 2010-2023) .
Abstract
This study investigates the effectiveness of economic sanctions as a strategy for managing international conflict, with specific attention to the Iranian nuclear issue and the resulting Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Economic sanctions have become a common instrument in global diplomacy, employed by states and international organizations to pressure governments into altering undesirable policies or behaviours. .This research seeks to evaluate how sanctions influenced Iran’s nuclear policy, the extent to which they affected the country’s economy, and the broader political and humanitarian consequences that followed. The study further examines the distinctions between multilateral sanctions, which involve collective action by multiple countries or institutions (such as those imposed by the United Nations or European Union), and unilateral sanctions, typically initiated by a single country like the United States.
KEYWORDS: International conflict management, Economic Sanctions, Unilateral sanctions, Multilateral sanctions.
