DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A SEMI-AUTOMATIC WEEDING AND TILLING MACHINE
Abstract
The project "Design and Fabrication of Semi-Automatic Weeding and Tilling Machine" aims to address the challenges faced in manual weeding and tilling processes in agriculture. The objective is to develop a semi-automatic machine that can efficiently remove weeds while tilling the soil, thus reducing labor costs and increasing productivity. The project begins with a comprehensive literature review to understand the existing technologies and innovations in weeding and tilling machines. Based on this review, a design methodology is formulated, taking into consideration the specific requirements and limitations of the project. The design phase involves conceptualizing and detailing the machine's components, including the frame, gearbox, clutch, power system, and control system. The design is optimized for ease of operation, accuracy in weed detection, and efficient soil tilling. Upon finalizing the design, the fabrication process commences, utilizing various materials and manufacturing techniques. The machine is assembled, ensuring proper integration of all components and adherence to design specifications. Rigorous testing and validation are conducted to assess the machine's performance, accuracy, and reliability in real-world agricultural conditions. The obtained results demonstrate that the semi-automatic weeding and tilling machine effectively detects and removes weeds while tilling the soil to the desired depth. The machine's efficiency surpasses manual methods, covering a larger area in less time and improving overall weeding efficiency. Comparisons with existing machines shows the superiority of the machine developed in terms of accuracy and speed, less energy consumption. The machine using six rotor blades for weeding and tilling makes it better than the existing ones, the size of the machine also allows it to maneuver distance between the crops which the existing ones were bulky and could not work in all the soil topography.
