IMPACT OF CALABAR CARNIVAL ON THE HOST COMMUNITY
Abstract
This study examined the Impact of Calabar Carnival on the host community. Data for the study were obtained with a set of 5 Likert scule structured questionnaire. The questionnaires were administered to the households in the purposively selected community uxing stratified sampling technique. Data for the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency count and percentage, while Pearson's Product moment correlation coefficient was used to test the hypotheses. The finding of the study confirmed that Calabar Carnival has brought significant economic henefits to the host community Calabar Carnival has a significant impact on the social and cultural life of the host community: Calabar Carnival has a significant environmental impact on the hou community. It was concluded that the Calabar Carnival has a profound and largely positive impact on the host community. The study recommended that the local government and private sector partners should develop and implement support and training programs for small and medium-sized enterprises.
