DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF VIRTUAL RESOURCE ROOM FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project focuses on the design and implementation of a Virtual Resource Room for the Computer Science Department at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Calabar. The study was prompted by the inherent limitations of traditional physical classroom settings, such as constraints of time, location, and the potential for inconsistent pedagogical delivery. To address these challenges, a web-based interactive system was developed to provide a centralized digital repository for academic materials.
The system was developed using the Waterfall Methodology, ensuring a structured approach through analysis, design, and implementation. The technical framework utilizes Node.js for backend operations, React.js for the frontend interface, and PostgreSQL for robust database management. This combination allows for a scalable and user-friendly platform where students and staff can access and manage educational resources efficiently. The resulting Virtual Resource Room serves as an effective e-learning model that enhances information dissemination and academic engagement within the department. The study recommends the full adoption of this digital infrastructure to supplement traditional teaching methods and foster a more flexible learning environment.
