A PROJECT REPORT ON RFID AND FINGERPRINT BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE (LOGGING) SYSTEM FOR CLASS AND EXAMINATION
Abstract
This project is aimed at developing an RFID and fingerprint biometric attendance system for educational institutions in order to automate the attendance process, ensuring accuracy, security, and efficiency. The system integrates Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and biometric fingerprint recognition to create a secure and automated solution for recording students’ attendance, as well as providing an additional layer of security by verifying their identity. It is integrated with a web server database to efficiently record and manage attendance data. This is done by capturing attendance through RFID card scans or fingerprint recognition, ensuring accurate and secure identification. The collected data is automatically populated into a web-based database, sourced from Google Sheets, allowing for real-time tracking and management. This was followed by extensive testing and pilot deployment in both real and simulated educational environments. Upon completion, the project demonstrated significant improvements in attendance management by reducing the time and effort traditionally required for roll calls and minimizing the potential for errors. The integration of the system with cloud-based storage allowed for realtime data access and simplified record-keeping. This solution provided an automated, streamlined approach to attendance recording, enhancing both security and convenience for users. Overall, the aim of the project which was geared at providing an effective and reliable attendance solution suitable for both classroom and examination settings was achieved.
