FORAMINIFERA, BIOSTRATIGRAPHY AND PALEOENVIRONMENTAL RECONSTRUCTION OF WELL EM, NIGER DELTA
Abstract
This research investigates the biostratigraphy and Paleoenvironmental reconstruction of Well EM in the Niger Delta, Nigeria, using foraminifera analysis. Through lithological examination and micropaleontological studies, the research identifies key biozones and determines the depositional environments within the well interval (7730–9530 ft). The findings reveal three biozones corresponding to Late Miocene and Early Pliocene ages, characterized by diverse foraminiferal assemblages. The Paleoenvironment is interpreted as outer neritic, with implications for hydrocarbon exploration. The study highlights the vital role of biostratigraphy in understanding sedimentary basins and optimizing resource exploitation in the Niger Delta.
