Abstract

This project critically analyzes the legal regulations governing corporate finance in Nigeria, with a particular focus on assessing compliance, evaluating the impacts of these regulations, and predicting future trends. The background of the study highlights the evolving regulatory framework aimed at enhancing corporate governance, financial stability, and investor protection in Nigeria. Despite these advancements, regulatory compliance remains a significant challenge for many corporations, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). One central problem addressed is the complexity and cost of compliance, which can impede effective adherence to regulations and hinder corporate growth. The general objective of this study is to evaluate the current state of regulatory compliance among Nigerian corporations and assess the impact of these regulations on corporate performance and stability. This study is consequential as it provides insights into how regulatory frameworks affect business operations and identifies areas where reforms could enhance compliance and financial stability. The scope of the study encompasses an analysis of regulatory compliance, impacts, and future trends within Nigerian corporate finance, with a focus on various sectors and sizes of businesses. The research employs a doctrinal methodology, relying on primary and secondary sources including statutes, case law, academic journals, and articles to derive its findings. One key recommendation from this study is the simplification of regulatory requirements to reduce the compliance burden on SMEs. Streamlining regulations and providing tailored guidance can make compliance more manageable and affordable, thus fostering a more conducive environment for business growth and financial stability and maximum compliance.
