Abstract
This study examined The Role of Women in the Development of Ike-Ahaba Autonomous
Community of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria. The study aimed
to investigate how women contribute to social, economic, and political development, identify
barriers hindering their participation, assess the impact of empowerment, and explore strategies
to enhance their developmental roles. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were
collected from 171 respondents using structured questionnaires. Data analysis using SPSS

participation significantly contributes to community development (r = 0.445, p < 0.05), while
cultural and institutional barriers negatively affect their engagement (r = -0.518, p < 0.05).
Empowerment initiatives were found to have a positive impact on community development (r =
