ANDROID BASE BUS TICKETING SYSTEM
Abstract
This research designed and implemented an Android-Based Bus Ticketing System to address the inefficiencies of the manual ticketing process at Yobe State University, which included long queues, overcrowding, and a lack of real-time information. The system, developed with Kotlin for the mobile frontend and Node.js with a MySQL database for the backend, automates ticket booking, seat allocation, and payment processing via Flutterwave. It provides real-time updates and notifications to users, enhancing their commuting experience. For administrators, it offers a dashboard for monitoring operations and revenue, eliminating manual record-keeping errors. Pilot testing demonstrated high user adoption and a significant reduction in boarding times, validating the system's effectiveness in improving operational efficiency, transparency, and overall service delivery for the university's transport unit. The project successfully provides a scalable, modern solution that aligns with digital transformation trends in academic transportation services.
