Abstract

ABSTRACT Internal control systems are essential mechanisms designed to ensure accountability, operational efficiency, and reliability of financial information within organizations. This research examines the use of internal control systems as a management tool for the realization of business objectives using Starline Nigeria Limited, Aba as a case study. The study investigates how internal control practices contribute to the prevention of fraud, efficient utilization of resources, and improved managerial decision-making. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and interviews administered to selected employees and management staff of Starline Nigeria Limited. Relevant literature on internal control systems and management practices was also reviewed to provide theoretical support for the study. Findings from the research revealed that effective internal control systems significantly enhance operational efficiency and contribute positively to the achievement of organizational goals. The study also discovered that organizations with strong control procedures experience fewer cases of financial irregularities and improved accountability among staff. The research concludes that internal control systems play a vital role in ensuring that organizational resources are properly managed and business objectives are achieved efficiently. The study recommends that organizations should continuously strengthen their internal control mechanisms, provide adequate training for staff, and implement modern auditing systems to maintain transparency and accountability in business operations.
