SECOND ORDER DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS USING VARIATION OF PARAMETERS METHOD
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This project provides a comprehensive examination of the variation of parameters method for solving non-homogeneous second-order differential equations with constant coefficients. The study encompasses a rigorous derivation of the method, an investigation of its applicability conditions, and the development of a step-by-step implementation procedure. Key aspects of the project include: A detailed mathematical foundation of the variation of parameters method. Analysis of existence and uniqueness conditions for solutions. A systematic approach to applying the method, including the construction of linearly independent solutions to the homogeneous equation. Demonstration of the method's application to various types of inhomogeneous terms, such as polynomials, exponential functions, and sinusoidal functions. The project highlights the method's significance in fields like physics, engineering, and applied mathematics, particularly in solving problems related to mechanical vibrations, electrical circuits, and control systems. While acknowledging some limitations, such as the complexity of certain integrals, the study concludes that the variation of parameters method remains a powerful tool for obtaining analytical solutions to a wide range of differential equations.
